In 1980, Dr. Siripala Leelaratna and Professor Hou WeiMin traveled to China to study East Asian Bhikkhunī lineages. Their groundbreaking work helped shape Visita Leelaratna’s vision—recognizing an unbroken ordination tradition that later supported the revival of the Bhikkhunī Sāsana in Canada after nearly a millennium.
